Bleaching and rinsing all the buckets and carboys to fill with tap water in advance of Irma. Shocked to find I have 50 gallons of capacity, only nine in use. When this bitch passes, I need to get busy with beer, mead and cider. I beg forgiveness.

You're forgiven. Now stay safe!
Not even a few Hail Marys? You are a benevolent overlord.

No shame and no guilt. Stay safe and then make a bunch of whatever you like once the threat is gone. I have a niece who lives RIGHT on Miami Beach and she evac'd earlier in the week. I have a customer whose office is on 70th street in Miami... their office is closed but he is staying home to ride it out (not sure where his home is but it's not near the water). I have heard enough horror stories so just stay safe. Not even a few Hail Marys? You are a benevolent overlord.

Mead will take a while. May pick up some unfiltered apple juice late this month in NC for cider. My beer could not possibly compare to Ken's. Stay tuned.

I'm sure it's much better.Mead will take a while. May pick up some unfiltered apple juice late this month in NC for cider. My beer could not possibly compare to Ken's. Stay tuned.
I like the unfiltered apple cider thing. Never tried it and now my daughter (will be 22 in Nov) is a hard cider fan. We went on a 20-mile bike ride and there was a brewery with an outdoor patio along the path... I had beer and my daughter had apple & pear cider that was on nitro. It was outstanding and she loved it.

Well, make some, post some pics, send a few kegs out for some armchair QA, and we'll be the judges.
Ken, the part about sending out kegs for QA applies to you, too.

I'd rather think you were prophetic. Your buckets and carboys were empty so that you could fill them with water for the storm.

Armagh, I hope you fared well. We managed okay which included 8 family members from the Key Largo to Islamorada; me, my wife and son, sister, BIL, nephew, his wife her mom, two children, 1 3 month old baby, 2 dogs, 1 dog the size of a pony, 2 cats (in the garage!) and a tortoise. My humble little home was bursting at the seams. 34 hours with no power and the smell of dog, feet and pits was a tad overwhelming even with a window shaker blowing away.

I kegged my MikeToberfest a week early just to free up another carboy. I have 4 filled with water. If all goes according to plan I'll use that water next week for a 10 gallon split of a light lager and saison.

True story, when we lived on Guam growing up, we were instructed to thoroughly clean out and bleach the garbage can (galvanized) and fill it with water and to clean and fill the bathtub with water so that if anything happened to the water supply, you would at least have water to boil for use. In the 3 or so typhoons we went through, it never got to that, but we at least had it available.
