which did you get?

Cheap little XLux on Amazon. $14.

Just tested my local Glacier Machine water. TDS of 11 ppm. So I'm good! Our local tap water is pretty soft at a TDS of 140 but it's almost all carbonate. Tons of limestone around here.

Can't you just use the hose bib for brewing then drain it again when you're done? They also make insulated covers for hose bibs. Not sure if that would work where you are.

I think pretty much all new construction here has the kind of valve that has a long stem that shuts of the water well inside the house so turning off water to outside spigots isn't even necessary.

We had one that just failed from age.  I replaced it with one that had a shark bite connection.  Pretty easy.  And I can still have water outside in the winter if I need it.
