Did you look at the SS ones at Brewers hardware?

Those are nice. Someday I will put one in my HLT but for now, the RIPP works fine for just heating water. SS in the BK.

I have the BH ripple in my bk and some generic all SS ones in the HLT and RIMS, so far so good with all.

Speaking of SS elements. I have this one that my bro got me for Christmas last year. The threads just don't seem right, they fit very loose going in and do not seem to get very tight. I almost feel I could turn it by hand and it would come loose. I didn't end up using it and is now sitting in a box. I need to revisit that soon. I'm not sure if there are different threads for these things but this is what I'm screwing it into.

Drez, are you talking about elements from Brewers Hardware or Brew Hardware?

I'm using those same pots from BrewHardware. The threads on my lime free RIPP from Amazon and the SS element also purchased from BrewHardware both work with those pots. Cost wise Id rather buy from BH for obvious reasons it seems.

Elements have straight thread, not tapered like pipe. They aren't meant to seal. That's what the rest bber gasket is for.

Hoping to go electric next year, but I have doubts on doing it with only a 100 Amp electric service, at least I think it's 100, how does one tell the difference?

No worries. I ran mine on 100A service with no issues.

The main breaker should have the amps on it.

it is 2 linked 100A breakers, I thought that meant 100 amps

if I understand it's all about the load on the circuit I run it off of, I'll have to talk to my Dad and two Cousins who are all industrial electricians on designing it

You have a link to these? SS?

Correct.

Everyone keeps mentioning these, but I'm not seeing them on their site.

I've thoroughly enjoyed converting to electric. I have a fairly simple system. I went with two smaller control panels, one for the HLT and one for the BK. I also went with a temperature controller instead of a PID for the HLT, and with the variable SSR kit from stilldragon for the BK.

I went with high density SS elements because the ripple element I tried wouldn't fit into the triclamp housing I had bought for it from stilldragon.

I also used a subpanel rather than a fancy control panel distribution system.

I am considering building another electric kettle and another variable SSR boil controller so that I can do a dual boil once the HLT is done (I am also limited to 50 amps to the subpanel).

Maybe not generic but cheaper  https://www.amazon.c...e?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have this in both 4500W and 5500W and have zero issues.  One is in my HLT and has zero indication of rust and screwed right in.

Best outside the box thinking I had seen in a while at the time.
